Meet our new Dinjerra Story Hubs artist, Benjamin Allder!

We’re excited to announce the artist who will work alongside students to create our new Story Hub for 2024 at Dinjerra Primary School - Benjamin Allder!

Story Hubs is 100 Story Building's innovative program that partners students, teachers and artists to build imaginative spaces in their communities, supporting them to step beyond the boundaries of the classroom, take creative risks and to become more confident, curious and engaged learners. Learn more about the program on our Story Hubs page.

Meet Benjamin Allder (he/him)

Benjamin describes himself as a “creatively distracted human being” and runs Banana on Cat, an illustration practice in the northern suburbs of Naarm/Melbourne. Banana on Cat specialises in cut-paper collage and analogue print-making.

Alongside client commissions and creative experimentation, Benjamin also runs arts-based facilitation and mentorship programs, and is deeply committed to fostering creativity in young people - making him a perfect choice for Story Hubs!

He's currently obsessed with RISO, neon pink, popcorn, drawing spooky skulls, and his cat.

Please note: Ben will not and cannot draw a horse, due to a witch's curse.

A portrait photograph of Benjamin Allder, who has short brown hair and is wearing a dark green hoodie. Benjamin is smiling at the camera while sitting on a chair and leaning on a green cutting mat on a table. The mat is covered in off cuts of black, white and orange paper in interesting shapes. There’s a large indoor plant in the background.

Welcome, Benjamin – we can’t wait to see what the students and teachers at Dinjerra Primary School create with your help!

To learn more about Benjamin and see more of his work, look up Banana on Cat at bananaoncat.com or on Instagram.
