Autumn Holiday Program: Weird Doors of the West
Join us these Autumn school holidays for a two-day story-making extravaganza!
Did you know the West of Melbourne is filled with mysterious doors?
And what lurks behind them is up to you to discover!
In buildings of all sorts, we’ve heard whispers of strange doors, locked entrances and bolted gates, all hiding in plain sight. We can't find anyone with the answers - or even the keys! What’s happening inside? Who’s keeping it a secret - and why?
We’ve brought in building experts from architecture firm Lovell Chen to be our eyes and ears on the ground. They’ll present their findings - but then it’s up to our story detectives to find the answers and unlock the stories, monsters, creatures and worlds that exist behind these mysterious closed doors! (That’s you!)
This two-day program will feature a variety of story-making activities, from character creation and world building to oral storytelling, drawing, craft and writing.
Day 1: Opening the Doors - participants will focus on exploring the possibilities of the weird doors, and trying to piece together the mysteries and stories behind them!
Day 2: Stepping Beyond - participants will get hands-on and bring the worlds behind the weird doors to life, as they make story artefacts they can bring home.
