Meet Lucy Allinson

Lucy is a multidisciplinary artist and Geelong local, working with a range of media including, sound, installation, painting, photography and sculpture.

She’s is an acoustic ecologist, studying and capturing the differences between human machinery noise and natural soundscapes. Recently she has been studying different locations around Greater Geelong, researching the disturbance of noise pollution against the acoustic ecology of the natural sonic aura throughout different landscapes, and is particularly interested in how we as humans are impacting our environments through sound.

Lucy believes in the power of storytelling as a way to not only connect with others, but to build our connection with and understand ourselves as humans.

“Without storytelling, we wouldn't be able to experience or grow as individuals…Everyone has an important story to tell and to be creative within that represents, I think, a more in-depth experience for others.”

“Storytelling enables truth, learning and a way to explore culture, history, family and so much more.”

Having completed her studies at Monash University and The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Fine Art (Honours), Lucy’s recent credits include featured sound installation projects, The Sonic Imperfects between The Barwum and The Birrarung Rivers (2019) at the Royal Melbourne Institute Graduate Exhibition, Comparative Continuity (2019) at Site Eight for RMIT, and Collaborative Show, "60bpm" for the Intermission Student Gallery at Monash.
