We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Country on which we live and work, the Wurundjeri Woiworrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, and of Country throughout Australia. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

This week in particular, we are celebrating the many and diverse cultures of our First Nations people. Here are some things our team are doing for NAIDOC Week and beyond, in recognition of the fact that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this land for more than 65,000 years. Always Was, Always Will Be.

‘I'm going to join and donate to First Nations Bedtime Stories from 16-20 November. Also looking forward to watching Namatjira.’ Jess, Story Hubs manager

‘I'll be watching (though not live) the Australian Academy of Science's panels about First Nations knowledge and science, including this one on The Sky and Stars.’ Ben, program facilitator

‘I'll be checking out an online (not live) meditation with Uncle Jack Charles and reading my recently arrived NEOMAD comic.’ Brendan B, program facilitator

‘I'll be watching the documentary Looky Looky Here Comes Cooky -- I missed it when it was at MIFF but have just seen that it's on SBS!’ Brendan T, Early Harvest manager

‘I'm reading Sand Talk by Tyson Yunkaporta - I love it...such a great voice and so very moreish! Part of me wants to race through it so I can learn everything it is teaching me, but the other part wants to read it slowly so it never ends. I'm also committing to starting this course on Culturally Inclusive Language...I signed up ages ago but hadn't gotten into it... but I love Louise O’Reilly and everything she does.’ Jo, development manager
