Your Amazon adventure
The world famous scientist studying some testy Tamarins in the Amazonian rainforest has mysteriously disappeared. You have been urgently assigned the task to find him, and you must set off RIGHT NOW!
What’s the one thing you will grab from your room to take with you? Why?
We asked our creative facilitators Laura, Ben and Brendan what they would take with them. Here’s what they said.
Brendan: ‘A self inflating raft! So that I can make it back to a town downstream like Manaus or Santarem if I needed to, and hopefully not get eaten by jaguars on the way.’
Ben: ‘Insect repelling cream because mosquitoes love to bite me! And I imagine Amazon is full of them.’
Laura: ‘My cat Marlow. To protect me from pesky Jaguars and Ocelots of course. (In case you are wondering, Marlow’s quite a cat!)’
Now it’s your turn.
Write, draw or audio/video record your response, and email it to us at info@100storybuilding.org.au and we will share it in our weekly round up of stories.
Parents & Teachers: This activity is a great story prompt. Try it or a variation of it (your young writer could be leaving for Pluto, Mt Etna, the Sahara desert) when you find them struggling to start.
Things you need for this activity
