If your pet designed its house

Our creative facilitator Laura decided to let her cat Marlow design its own house, and guess what?

Her house is in the shape of a tree with lots of branches for her to climb on.

Red wool threads its way through the house.

And all her tiny cat-sized furniture is bird-patterned.

If your pet designed its house, what would it look like?

What would the walls be made of? Where would your pet sleep? Where would it hang out with its friends? Does it have any friends?

Teacher Tip: This creative exercise gives children the agency to make decisions, and thus engages them more deeply in the writing task.

Write, draw or audio/video record your response, and email it to us at info@100storybuilding.org.au and we will share it in our weekly round up of stories.

Things you need for this activity

  • If you are writing, pen / pencil and a paper

  • If you are audio / video recording, a smart phone or other recording device
