Seeking new 100 Story Building Board Members

The 100 Story Building Board of Directors has opened applications for new Non-Executive Directors. Three positions are available and those who are interested are encouraged to apply for this rare opportunity!

100 Story Building is a creative writing and literacy organisation that is both a registered charity and a social enterprise. We have worked with more than 45,000 children and young people over 10 years to support their literacy, creativity and storytelling skills.

Operating at the intersection of social enterprise, education, community impact, creativity and fun, 100 Story Building reaches thousands of young Victorians each year, making a positive impact on the lives of young storytellers. ​

We're looking for highly impactful people with a desire to change education outcomes; ready to make smart strategic decisions and bring the skills and networks needed to take our organisation into its next growth phase. ​

We are seeking passionate, committed people who share the values of 100 Story Building and bring strong, senior level experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • EdTech

  • Government and Education 

  • Product Development / Market Development

  • Philanthropy

Experience and knowledge of the following will be highly regarded:

  • Governance (board or senior management level)

  • Gender, culturally, mobility and linguistically diverse communities

  • Business and social enterprise

  • Programming for children and young people

Attributes that are highly regarded:

  • First Nations background 

  • Diverse cultural, linguistic and religious backgrounds 

  • People with lived experience of economic injustice and housing insecurity

  • A public profile or strong networks at scale

Note: If you don’t meet all of the points above, but believe you would be a valuable part of our Board, we encourage you to apply. Board Directors are no different to young people in needing opportunities to learn and grow.

The 100 Story Building board meets bi-monthly in Footscray or sometimes remotely (six meetings per year).  Directors are expected to prepare for meetings and follow through on agreed work, contribute time and financial resources as appropriate, share their networks and attend events.  We would prefer directors who can also serve on relevant sub-committees, with an additional commitment of up to six meetings per year. 

Board directorships are voluntary, unpaid positions appointed for a term of three years.

Key dates:

Applications close on 5 May 2023. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in late May and successful applicants will join the Board from 1 July 2023.
