Open for Stories!
100 Story Building. Now with 100% more building than we had a year ago, when we announced that we were opening a centre for young writers in Melbourne's west. And what a building it is. We are so delighted to be able to finally share this with you all. Thank you to all who came and celebrated with us on Saturday. We'e put some pictures up in our gallery. For those of you who didn't make it, our author ambassador Sally Rippin wrote about it.
Thank you to to Uncle Ron Jones from the Wurundjeri for his Welcome to Country. Thank you also to Councillor Martin Zakharov for his lovely speech, and to our author ambassador Alice Pung for her always entrancing stories about growing up in Braybrook and Footscray. We'd also like to thank the storytellers, artists and editors who helped us show on the day exactly what kind of stories lurk in a 100 Story Building. Thank you to Ahmet, Ruby, Miab, Olivia and Zara who represented the Early Harvest Editorial Board and listened to story pitches; Jenan and Samrawit, who performed their radio play 'Two Girls in One Big Mess' with help from foley Laura Milke-Garner; Bernard Caleo, Jackie Kerin and Oslo Davis for chalk drawing, Kamishibai storytelling and covert sketching and also thank you to all the volunteers who generously donated their time to help out - Davina, Maddie, Clare, Lindsay, Ramona, Liz, Percy and our wonderful board.A mere thank you could not do justice to the people and organisations who have supported us in the creation of 100 Story Building, but we promise to name whole levels after you once we've finished construction on all the storeys below. In the meantime, we'll start with your names up on the wall in 100 Story Building, and on our supporter page.So now we have one storey, let's get these other stories going! Our workshops are now open for bookings, and we'd love you to drop in and say hello.
