On the BIG screen

The sky might have been grey, but it was a bright start to the weekend as we gathered with students, families and teachers from Dinjerra Primary School, Braybrook, to view the 'In Other Words' films on the Fed Square big screen. With Fed Square celebrating its 10th birthday this month, we were thrilled to have the Prep to Grade 2 students' very own short films included in the festivities. The films, made earlier this year, saw the students write, illustrate and perform their stories using the Japanese art of Kamishibai. Drawing on their own experiences and some of their favourite tales, the films featured family feasts, visits to strange places, stray footballs and hungry monsters.A big thank you (and happy birthday) to Fed Square for featuring the films in their program and Public Transport Victoria for providing tickets for families and students to travel to the screening. In Other Words was made possible through a partnership with Maribyrnong City Council’s ‘River of Words’ Early Literacy Initiative and funding from  the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Best Start Program.
